Prayer … for all people … This is good and pleases God!

1 Timothy 2  1: 5     I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people

It’s been a long day and it’s only 9:34 ET… however the day started at the Bergstrom Airport at 5:30 am.  After depositing our luggage immediately at the hotel we headed straight to Congressman Carter’s office for a personal tour of the Capitol. It was fun to see Laura Vitolina’s artwork in the tunnel on the walk over to the Capitol Visitor Center.  It’s her second year to win and have her work displayed for a year.

The tour of the Capitol just never gets old.  All the history, the statues, the first Supreme Court Room and the first Senate Chambers.  Almost all the original furniture. Amazing! The Rotunda was full of scaffolding for all the repairs so the students did miss some beautiful artwork and architecture, but it was still amazing none the less.

We came back, changed, and had dinner then headed back to the National Mall to begin our prayer focus for the week.

Thomas Moye (former SCA student) joined us this evening. He was on SCA’s first D.C. trip 10 years ago. This trip inspired him to come back and do an internship here and now he lives and works here. He shared with the students about what the trip meant to him and the potential it has to change them forever if they will let it.   We prayed for our nation and for our week and then headed back to the hotel.

In 1 Timothy 2-5   it says, I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.

Pray for our team and your student. This trip is a very physical trip… and has the potential to really impact them in ways that are hard to explain, because it touches each one differently.  It’s about service, sacrifice, integrity, speaking up, speaking out, being informed, learning new things, and being challenged with everything they are experiencing.

I am praying that each student will realize, what they do … matters. And when they step out of their own world and see that they can make a difference for others, they will want to ‘say yes’ when God speaks to their heart about what is on his heart! Prayer … it is good … it is for ALL people and it pleases God! May we get that, this week.

Thank you for your prayers.  Keep them coming.  If you have a scripture or encouragement you want to share with the team in the evening debriefing, text or email me and I’ll share with the team.

(text is easier because I don’t have to wade through many daily emails – however, I will get an email … and please identify yourself if it’s your first time to text me )
